La Confiance

La confiance, launched in 1800 was under the command of Robert Surcouf. She was recommissioned in Ile de France with a complement of officers and seamen totalling a number of 213 people and an armament of six 8—pounder long guns, sixteen 6-pounders and two 36-pounder obusiers de vaisseau. On 7 October, she combatted the East Indiaman Kent and captured her after a violent battle and brought Kent to be sold in Ile de France (Mauritius).

On 4 June 1805, La Confiance was attacked and captured and later was used under his Majesty’s Service. She has participated in several actions won victories under the command of James Yeo. She was then sold on 22 December 1810 and was known to have sailed as a merchantman until 1816.
